Had NO idea where to out this! To me the categories are too vague for me, or it's late and I'm being thick.
But here it is, a watercoloured piece for a series I'm *trying* to create. This is the the main character, a girl who lives in a village built in the sheer edge of a cliff.
It's slightly touched up in photoshop, but that's because my scanner kills colour and blurs randomly. Bastard.
Please criticise constructively and all; I'm not totally happy with this and think I might even just try a different style or stick with digital painting. orz
Oh my Squishbums! It's beautiful. I love the colouring, so much so evocative of like those holidays in Europe when youre wondering through a village and you dont speak the language, but its stunning anyway. I love the contrast of the gull!
Shes brilliant too perfect ambiguous expression against a languidly expressive body. The anklet was a nice touch, particularly how it matches the plant.
I cant give you any kind of art evalusation because I am ART NOOB, I can just tell you what I like. Soo gorgeous, all around.
Oh thank you! I'm glad the colours came out appearing exotic and semi-european; it was the angle I was kind of going for. XD But yes I'm not sure about the texture so I might just computer doodle everything in the future. XD
You is no art nooob. You pro. But thankies! Mucho! The girl looks to old, she looks like an adult but OH WELL I'll JUST KEEP TRYING! 8D
ohhh this is so beautiful Flannypants! LOVElovelove the tones - they're so rich and yummy. Mrrrr <3 My only crit would be the legs - the anatomy just doesn't look quite right somehow. AND WHERE WERE YOU TODAY?! loveeeeeee!!!
Yes, the problem was I was taking reference from a picture of a fully grown woman and I wanted to thin this girl's legs out a bit to make her look more childish - and in the process kind of hacked up the anatomy perspective. Whoops. BUT THANK YOU!!!
I like it!!! I love the colouring and it's like a rainbow and HOW CAN YOU DRAW PEOPLE WITH BARS OVER THEIR FACE because when I do they always look like they have a bar instead of a face.
Draw her again, but say she's gone for a walk and she's sitting on a hill/cliff with her village in the background cos I REALLY wnat to see the viliage inacliff. sort of timemachineish. have you seen that film? Seriously though. The colouring? I feel like I'm in the Caribbean. which I guess is sort of the point overall? lovely+moreplease. ps- those markers you recommended are A-MAZING!! Already had to go buy some more. my pictures acutlaly look like... pictures!!
OH THANK YOU FOR AMAZING COMMENT BLESS YOUR SOUL! 8D I do plan to draw more of the village... I think I just need to create more sketches and psych myself up to the challenge. (A part of me just thinks "Noooooooooooooooo... fear.") Haven't seen that film... will now reference. I'm basing it slightly off steampunk-set-in-carribean/imperialboy (I wish) but I think i'm being over ambitious. But thank you for the awesome comment! NOW SHOW ME YOUR WORK! POST! (I want your pens now...)
No postie I'm all shy. Plus I don't have a scanner atm. but I'm glad you liked my comment. It isn't really much like the time machine, other than the time machine has a village built into a cliff to escape random ape things. It is also a very good film, based on book by hg wells, I believe. xxx
Simple: buy scanner. Draw. Post. Well, I'm always looking for the weird inspiration so maybe I'll have a poke around. I'm too scared to tackle further cliff villageness until I have more time. -_-;; xxx
